What is this
Registry?
All pure bred Akhal-Teke horses and their ancestors are registered in the official Akhal-Teke General Studbook, run by the Russian Institute of Horse Breeding (VNIIK). With the increasing horse population in distant geographic areas outside of Russia, the workload at the General Studbook office increased significantly. To ensure that the breeders’ needs for horse registration, help with the pedigrees, and answers to various questions shall be answered in a timely manner, this Akhal-Teke Horse Registry, Inc. was established in Texas, USA to help ease the VNIIK workload. It was designed to work closely with the VNIIK office, to have a direct access to all information available in the VNIIK files, and to share all newly obtained information on horses with VNIIK office for inclusion in their General Studbook files.
Do I Have to Use this Registry to Register My Horses? Not al all. Any Akhal-Teke owner may choose to register their horses directly in the Russian General Studbook, or can use any other assistance they may prefer for such registration. We claim no restricted control or access, but will simply help owners if they ask.
How Exclusive is This Organization? It is not a club or an association. It is just an organization designed to provide registration help and information to anyone in the world. You don’t need to join any organization to use our service.
What Are the Costs and Obligations? There is no cost to join, and no membership dues. Once the horse is registered, the owner will get the Horse Registration Number, and the horse will appear with that number in the next issue of the General Studbook.
Why Are You Doing This? For satisfaction in knowing that all owners of pure bred Akhal-Teke horses now have an easy, efficient, and inexpensive way to register their horses.
